Aloha, it’s a surfing dog!

No, it’s not a joke, this is fur real. And it’s a sport!

The World Dog Surfing Championships took place last month in Pacifica, California. Pooches take to their boards to compete solo, or tandem, with another dog or their owner. There were also categories for small, medium, and large dogs. Expert hound surfers competed against first-timers, and even a pig called Pickles!

Dog surfing is relatively new, with the first competition taking place in San Diego 12 years ago.

The contest, which drew thousands of fans and their canine pals, also included dog adoptions, and even a dog beach fashion contest.

You can watch some of the cute contestants below!
