#loveislove: The 50 year anniversary you need to know about

Maybe you have a mum and dad, just a mum or just a dad. Some children have two mums or two dads, these families are LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) families, and 2017 is a special year for LGBT people!

It’s been 50 years since “the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in England and Wales” – but what does that really mean?

Well, in 1967, the government ruled that being gay was legal (if you were over 21). This was the first step towards allowing people to love whoever they want. Previously, it was illegal for two men to be in a relationship together.

Thankfully, in the UK today, most people are a lot more accepting, and we have marriage equality for all!
