Is it a plane? Is it a bird? No, but it might just be a rodent on the red planet!
Scientists have always questioned if there could be life on other planets, and now it looks like it could be true… NASA’s curiosity rover has spotted something strange on Mars’s rocky surface. Pictures seem to show a mouse, chilling out in one of the planet’s craters! Check out the photo for yourself and see what you think it is:
Amateur astronomer Joe White made the discovery, posting the image on his YouTube channel. He wrote: “A possible very large mouse or other rodent on Mars in Gale Crater – sitting on a ridge, plain as day. It is probably an optical illusion but seems to have big ears, nose and eyes. It resembles a very large mouse or jerboa in appearance.” NASA are yet to comment on the photo.
The Curiosity Rover landed on Mars in 2012, and began a special space mission to explore the planet and learn more about the solar system.
Don’t freak out too soon though, because while it looks like a mouse, that shadowy shape could just be a funky rock formation. Even if it is an illusion, there’s still hope though. While scientists once doubted there could be life on Mars because of its chilly climate, which can be as low as minus 130 degrees, they found salt water on the surface in 2015, leading them to believe there could be life on this frosty planet! But whether it’s a mouse or not remains a mystery….
What do you think the shape looks like? Let us know!
