Dear Ada, I wish my parents didn’t work so much

Ada helps a girl who feels her relationship with her parents is changing.

Dear ADA,

My parents have been working lots recently and I miss spending time with them. They seem really stressed because sometimes they shout at me. What should I do? I don’t want to make them more upset.

Hi Lizzie,

Sometimes adults can be put under a lot of pressure at work. It can be very stressful and difficult for them, and they can end up working long hours. But your parents would never want you to feel second best to their job. Sit down with them and tell them how you feel. Say that you’ve missed them and would like to spend some more time together as a family. You could ask them to help you with some homework one night when they finish work, or plan a fun activity to do over the weekend together. I’m sure once they know how you feel, they’ll make more time for you.

Love ADA x
